Welcome to ObAgro

We are a multidisciplinary group of researchers dedicated to studies and training in topics related to work and health. Our team is made up of professors and technicians directly involved in research, teaching and extension, with practical application of concepts for preventing diseases and accidents at work in the meatpacking production chain. Here you will find useful resources such as scientific articles, press articles, videos, maps and infographics, among other materials that can help you maintain healthy and safe work environments.

We work on projects with specific themes, such as the Ammonia Project, an important topic for meatpacking plants and other food industries, gathering scientific and technical material with the aim of reducing or even eliminating the occurrence of accidents with ammonia leaks in cold environments. Other thematic projects are developed as indicated by our partners.

In a joint letter from the National Confederation of Workers in the Food and Related Industries (CNTA), the Brazilian Democratic Confederation of Food Workers of the CUT (CONTAC/CUT) and the Latin American Regional of the International Union of Food Workers (Rel IUF), sent on Tuesday (6) to the Minister of Labor and Employment, Luiz Marinho, the entities expressed concern about the growing number of ammonia accidents in meatpacking plants in Brazil. On July 25, the Observatory of Health and Work in Agribusiness (ObAgro) was launched in Chapecó.
The event was attended by more than 25 entities, as well as union leaders from all over Brazil and several Brazilian researchers, during the CONTAC National Seminar on Health and Work.
